    Red Hat, Inc. provides one of the the best known Linux distributions in the world. The Fedora Project is Red Hat's community distribution. It is intended to be a fast-paced distribution for those that like to stay on the leading edge of technology. It is also a test-bed for Red Hat's Enterprise Linux products.

    Red Hat Package Management system or (RPM) packages. Not all distributions in the Red Hat family are derived from Red Hat, but most were at some point. In addition to the RPM packages and utility, most of the Red Hat family has adopted the Yellow Dog Update Management tool (YUM). This family includes the following well known distributions as well as many others:
     

    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux: the world’s leading enterprise Linux platform.

    • Fedora: an innovative, free, and open source platform for hardware, clouds, and containers

    • CentOS: a community-driven free software effort focused on delivering a robust open source ecosystem. 

    • openSUSE: The makers' choice for sysadmins, developers and desktop users.

    • Mageia: a secure, stable and sustainable operating system
