In previous sections, we focused on large-scale heat storage devices. However, there is a whole variety of small scale heat storage devices. For example, residential roof-mounted solar water heaters are popular in many countries with high sunlight.
We will not discuss in detail the existing methods of small and intermediate scale thermal energy storage, but a good review of such technologies can be found in an article by Ioan Sarbu and C.
