In this chapter, we see the basic of profiling in Pharo. It has presented the functionalities of MessageTally and introduced a number of principles for resorbing performance bottleneck.
- The method
timeToRunand bench offer simple benchmarking and should be sent to a block. - MessageTally is a sampling-based code profiler.
- Evaluating
MessageTally spyOn: [ "an expression" ]executes the provided block and display a report. - Accuracy is gained by increasing the execution time of the profiled block.
