Terms
- AML: Approved Manufacturers List. A list of vetted manufacturers with whom the organization is allowed to place purchase orders.
- AVL: Approved Vendors List. Same as AML, but uses the word "Vendor" instead of "Manufacturer."
- BOM: Bill of Materials. An organized list itemizing all the parts and assemblies required to manufacture a product. If it includes the cost of each part, it is called Costed BOM.
- ECO: Engineering Change Order.
- EOL: End of Life. A part of a product life cycle for retiring a product.
- From-To list: A list, often maintained in spreadsheet form, that maps previously used non-compliant parts (by part number) to replacement parts that are compliant.
- IPC: A trade association that standardizes assembly of electronic equipment, previously known as "Institute of Printed Circuits."
- MCO: Manufacturing Change Order.
- PCB: Printed Circuit Board. A circuit board that houses components and contains routing traces to connect the components to perform its functions.
- PPM: Parts per million.
- RoHS: Restriction of Hazardous Substances.
- SKU: Stock Keeping Unit.
- SQA: System or Software Quality Assurance.
- XRF: X-Ray Fluorescence, a method used to detect some of the elements that are part of the list of restricted substances.
